The Cleanse – Day 5 (and how to ruin a smoothie)

I’m starting to feel better. No more caffeine withdrawal headaches, or sugar withdrawal headaches. I’m hungry a lot, which is mostly my fault, because I’m lazy, and fixing a salad or grabbing an apple doesn’t sound all that appetizing. But I’m doing it! I haven’t weighed or measured myself, but I’d even guess I’ve lost some mileage around my waist. (Real measurements on Mondays.)

And today I discovered how to fail at a smoothie: too much kale!

See, it doesn’t even look appetizing. I drank it anyway. Most of it. I hate wasting food. And it didn’t taste like raw snails or anything – just like grass. Pureed grass. Not super tasty. Especially because I drank this just after I deboned a fresh rotisserie chicken.

I’m actually a little surprised at how OK I am with sticking to fruits and veggies. I’ve managed to fix meals for my kids and husband without even feeling tempted to cheat. I have a lot of encouragement, and the Lord, on my side. And I’m already far enough in that I don’t want to ruin my own progress. So, so far so good.
